Who we are

KodeStark is a software studio based in Dublin, Ireland. We build websites, web apps, and mobile apps for businesses, and we develop our own software products.

For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), KodeStark is the data controller for information collected through this website. You can reach us at hello@kodestark.com.

What this website does not do

We think it is clearer to start with what we do not collect. This website does not:

  • >Set any cookies. None at all, first-party or third-party.
  • >Run analytics, advertising, or visitor tracking of any kind.
  • >Build profiles, track you across other websites, or use automated decision-making.
  • >Require an account, a login, or a password.
  • >Load fonts, scripts, or images from third-party servers. Fonts are served from our own domain, so your browser never contacts a font provider.

We only receive personal information when you choose to type it into one of our two forms and submit it.

Information you give us

Enquiry form. When you send an enquiry through the contact form, we receive:

Name
Required, so we know who we are replying to.
Email address
Required, so we can reply.
Business name
Optional.
Services selected
Which of websites, web apps, or mobile apps you are interested in.
Your message
Whatever you choose to tell us about the project.
Submission time
The date and time you sent the form, taken from your device.

Product waitlist. When you join the waitlist for SubSafe or Project Verity, we receive your email address and which product you selected. Nothing else.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider records standard server logs when a page is requested, which typically include your IP address, browser type, and the page requested. These logs exist for security and reliability, are not linked to any form submission, and are not used to identify or profile you.

Local storage on your device

When you submit either form, we store a small record in your browser's local storage to stop the same form being sent repeatedly. It contains only a timestamp and a numeric code representing the submission. It holds no name, email address, or message content, it never leaves your device, and we cannot read it.

This is covered in more detail in our Cookie Policy, including how to clear it.

Why we process it, and our legal basis

  • >Enquiries. To reply to you and discuss possible work. Our legal basis is that processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
  • >Waitlist. To email you when the product you selected becomes available. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form and can withdraw at any time.
  • >Preventing abuse. To stop our forms being used to send spam. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site usable.

We do not use your information for anything else, and we never sell it.

Who else handles your information

We use a small number of service providers to operate the site. They process your information on our instructions only.

EmailJS
Delivers enquiry form submissions to our inbox. It handles the contents of the enquiry form in transit.
Google
Waitlist signups are recorded using Google Apps Script and stored in Google Sheets.
Hosting provider
Serves the website and keeps standard server logs.

These providers are based in or transfer data to the United States. Such transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so.

How long we keep it

  • >Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request, and afterwards as a business record for up to two years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • >Waitlist entries are kept until the product launches or until you ask to be removed, whichever comes first.
  • >Server logs are kept for the short period set by our hosting provider.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or provide it in a portable format. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent for the waitlist at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these, email hello@kodestark.com. We will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Children

This website is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how this website handles personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If we ever add analytics, advertising, or cookies, we will say so here before turning them on.
